Interview tips

Found your dream job? Here are some tricks and tips that might help to ace that job interview!

You received a job interview confirmation, now it is time to prepare and make the most out of it. We decided to list a few good practices to increase your chances and make it a success:

First impressions count:

Studies prove that we take approximately 7 seconds to make a first impression and if you are being  interviewed for the job of your dreams this will be a first opportunity to make an impression. So, to start with the right foot, dress professionally. A tuxedo would be definitely too much but underdressing with a t-shirt and sneakers is probably even worse. You are going to meet your possible future employer, so dress to impress!

Time matters:

If you have an appointment, arriving 5 to 10 minutes in advance shows professionalism and interest. Of course, we know that things can happen: traffic, sick kid… So, if you know that you are not going to make it on time even if it is for five minutes just give a call. This shows respect for the other person's time and will help you to start the conversation in the right way.

Preparation is key:

It is always nice to show that you took some time to research about the company: activities, values, job positions. Not only will this help to get a better view on the position that you are applying for, but it will also show your motivation and interest in the position at this company. Furthermore, it is a good practice to prepare some questions in advance but make sure you don’t ask things that are easy to find online. This will only prove that you didn’t look at the website.

Insider tip:

You can also show your interest and motivation by writing notes during the interview . This will also be useful for the next steps of the recruitment process. You can review the information to prepare for the next interview or mention some interesting points during the discussion to build your case in front of the manager.
Obviously, you will mostly be evaluated on your profile, your motivation and experience but these small things can help you to be a step closer to your dream job, so it is worth a try!
